Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Culture and Tourism, made important statements about the world of Turkish TV series in the program “The Converging Effect of Turkish TV Series onTurkish culture and Turkish language” organized at Yunus Emre Institute. Minister Ersoy started his speech by congratulating Yunus Emre Enstitüsü (YYE) and Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) for their efforts to protect and develop the Turkish language and increase its influence.

Ersoy also talked about the findings of the field research titled “Turkish TV Series and Turkish” conducted by YEE and RTÜK to investigate the converging effect of Turkish TV series on Turkish and Turkish culture. Reporting the results of the field research carried out with the participation of approximately 5 thousand people from 125 countries, Ersoy shared the following information:
“The majority of those who participated in the field research stated that the main motivation for learning Turkish is Turkish TV series. While the participants stated that watching Turkish TV series in language trainings has some concrete contributions such as speaking faster, understanding spoken words, pronouncing words correctly, learning how words are used in daily life, they also underline a much more important point. Participants state that Turkish TV series also contribute significantly to the learning of Turkish culture and values. For many years, American culture was the culture that attracted attention in different geographies thanks to Hollywood productions, but today the people of the world are starting to wonder about Turkish culture thanks to Turkish TV series.”
Explaining that the venues that hosted the shootings of the TV series drew the attention of the viewers to many different points of Anatolia and increased the number of tourists coming to Turkey, Ersoy thanked everyone who contributed to the study.
